Cliff has absolutely no reason to believe that this is being released, BUT IT SHOULD BE!

This February Port Chester six-night stand may not quite reach the dizzying heights achieved in some of the Fillmore or Winterland runs, but it certainly deserves its place in Grateful Dead history, and on our shelves!

There is quite a bit of new material breaking out, and the playing in some of these shows is a little inconsistent, the band having to quickly adjust to the loss of Mickey. They may have been distracted by the ESP experiments that were taking place, however there are plenty of brilliant moments in each of these nights!

No reason to go into the sound quality, we all know these are Betty Boards, and when Rhino lets us have them, in "Vault Quality" sound, we will really know just how magical was some of the music played that February in Westchester...

Ive had all or parts of these shows on tape for years and I always thought they were some of the best in my collection, I would love to see them come out on a nice box set.

I second the nomination to release the Port Chester shows. Do I have a motion to vote?

I have always liked these shows, even though I tend to listen to 76-82 more often than not. Rhino, grab life by your horn and get off your fat grey leathery ass and release some shows!

Been busier than ever, organizing a comm fund raising event from 13000 miles away -- takes a lot -- but very rewarding.

Where are you moving to?

Dude, methinks your time machine has been stuck in reverse for too long. Crank it up a notch or two.

Seriously, this is indeed a fine set of shows with some moments that rival any others the band put out. Heartily agree with Mr. Hucker that these shows are NOT to be missed.

Having heard some of the audiences Marty W. did of the previous two Portchester runs, I managed to get tickets for the full run. It was amazing--all these new songs--and then Mickey disappearing! Good, solid Grateful Dead right in transition from the last of the psychedelic era to the bar band year. LOTS of Pig at his finest.

The 19th was supposed to be "Two from the Vault," but got scrapped at the last minute in favor of the 1968 discs. While I favor the choice they made, I still love the 19th--and the whole run. A best of would make for a great box.

all these shows are good, my favorites are the first three nights. MY only complaint is how unoriginal the setlists are. NFA>GDTR>NFA was played what 4 nights??

Except that the suite also has Lovelight added on. I tell uyou what--I'll take these NFA suites any time. May be repetitive--remember, though, these were all new toys then--but killer versions.
